The majority of activities at the Fieldgate Centre are run by a great group of volunteers.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us
SOME MYTHS ON VOLUNTEERING AT THE FIELDGATE
Being a volunteer doesn’t mean you have to come to regular [boring] meetings
You don’t have to be at the Fieldgate to volunteer to help.
You don’t have to be here every week, we have many one off events which need help
VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Marshals for annual events when we have 900 people on site
- First aiders for big events
- Help putting up marquee in the summer and building temporary states for winter performances
- Audio visual set up technical help
- Taxi co-ordinator (we arrange taxis for the elderly or less able to attend our events) {home based}
- Occasional adhoc odd jobs helping and guided by our core team and trustees
- Selling tickets in the village
- Putting up posters and banners in the village and surrounding areas.
- Event co-ordinator (helping to arrange stalls and logistics)
WHAT YOU CAN GET OUT OF VOLUNTEERING:
Depending on your age and experience you can:
- Learn new skills and get an important addition to your CV/linked in profile
- Give something back by giving skills back to the community
- Post Covid many of us work at home so this provides an opportunity to meet new people and get out of the house
WHAT WE WILL GIVE BACK
Anyone who helps us and works well in the team we will be happy to provide references or endorsements to future employers.
HOW MUCH TIME IS NEEDED
We aren’t asking for any commitment , this isn’t like joining the Territorial Army. An hour or two helping at big events makes all the difference. An occasional hour every month helping us to promote events or cover for some one who cant normally help all makes a massive difference.
